Discovering the Joy of Books
Books have always held a unique power - to transport, to transform, and, most importantly, to connect. My love for reading blossomed when I realised each book opened a doorway into another person’s mind. Through their works, authors became like companions, taking me on journeys through their understanding of complex ideas and hidden truths. We could “nerd out” together on concepts, questions, and revelations they’d spent years exploring. This connection made reading an adventure, a collaboration, where I could walk alongside someone else’s thoughts and dive deep into their unique perspectives.
A Book Club in the Midst of a Pandemic
When COVID-19 brought so much of our world to a halt, I—like many others—found solace in reading. However, the pandemic also sparked a new way to share our thoughts and discoveries with others. I joined an ad-hoc book club with people from around the world, each coming from different walks of life and bringing our unique viewpoints to the table. This wasn’t your traditional book club with schedules or official membership lists. Instead, it was a collection of curious minds who happened to find each other during a challenging time.
